Bette Midler Cake

Melinda and I did some baking this weekend for a friend's birthday party. Obviously, our pal is a Midler fan, so we decided to use a combo of the Divine Miss M album cover and Ms Midler's stint on The Simpsons as inspiration for the portrait.

I baked the cake, iced it and added a tasty border of slivered almonds. Baby G did the fabulous Bette portrait in whipped icing. It was a success! Not only attractive, but tasty (thanks, Betty Crocker!).
